Journey to NCLR's Lideres Summit

This summer thanks to the help of Gandhi Brigade and LAYC I was able to attend the NCLR (National Council of LA Raza) at San Antonio, Texas.

I went with two staff from LAYC (Ricardo and Karla) and with 5 youth (Herson Bautista, Courtney Jones, Destiny Jones, Alejandra Velasquez, and Jonathan Avila). I had a great time in Texas especially since I had never been there before. It was a great experience because I was able to meet new people my age and learn how other organizations help their community. We the youth were given the opportunity to meet people who try to make a difference in society and also we were able to not just learn but have a great time doing so. Since we arrived at Texas we attended workshops (the good thing was that we individually were able to choose the workshop that interested us). The day before we were to come back to Maryland well all attended a Gala in which we were to dress formally (dressing to impress). When the Gala was over there was a good-bye dance. And that’s not all but everything was free (the food, hotel and even the flight tickets). We had a great time at San Antonio with experiences that will never be forgotten.
