Retreat for our YAC & Promoters Youth
To kick off the month of November, Gandhi Brigade took some of its youth on a retreat to a place called "Go Ape". Go Ape consists of ropes courses, zip lines, ladders, and hanging obstacles at heights of up to 45-feet! There, they had the opportunity to get to know one another better, learn something new about themselves, and enjoy this team-building activity. They began the course a bit scared, nervous and excited, however by the end of the course, they left proud, more confident of themselves, and walking a little taller.
Introducing the Youth Action Cabinet
Gandhi Brigade’s Youth Action Cabinet (YAC) is up and running for the year!
The YAC is a fantastic group of youth leaders who represent the interests of Gandhi Brigade youth members. Though we’ve only had four meetings, the YAC members have already started to tackle programming and leadership responsibilities within Gandhi Brigade. At the Gandhi Brigade Kick-off Party, we saw YAC members heading the registration table, managing media, MC-ing, and leading the youth in a game of limbo.
Come to this Friday’s Freedom School if you want to see some YAC members hard at work. The Gandhi Brigade staff looks to the YAC for programming ideas that are relevant and interesting to youth, so if you have a great idea for new programming, projects, or Freedom School sessions, contact Siomara Bonilla, Bronte Moreau, Cindi Roman, or Rhys Talbott.
